About MAGLabs

MAGLabs: MAGFest’s Maker Festival

MAGLabs is an event focused on hands-on making and creativity. There are a lot of things gamers make - crafts, electronics, developing games, modding hardware and software, costumes, writing, painting, mini painting, terrain, tabletop RPG campaigns, and more! We want to feature ALL these things by giving experienced makers a place to show off their work and all attendees to try new skills.

We can’t cram EVERYTHING into Peabody Heights, so MAGLabs is doing something different. We’re going to be doing 2 events per year in the spring and fall, each focused on a different facet of making.

One event might be focused on electronics, with projects like soldering workshops, sewing electronic pins, console repair tutorials, custom-built controllers, and experimenting with circuit-bending instruments.

Another might be a tabletop theme with mini-painting, terrain building, campaign workshops, indie tabletop games, and actual-play shows.

Each event will be different, but the core will be the same - Come to MAGLabs to celebrate and make gaming culture!

FAQ

How much does it cost to attend?

MAGLabs is FREE ENTRY! Some aspects of the event and space have a fee, like the Dugout Arcade is $15 for an all-day wristband pass, and some workshops will have a materials fee.

Where is it located?

MAGLabs is located at Peabody Heights Brewery, located in the Abell neighborhood of Baltimore City at 401 East 30th Street, Baltimore, MD, 21218

Where can I park?

Peabody Heights Brewery has a small private lot that accommodates roughly 15 vehicles, but there is plenty of street parking in the surrounding neighborhood, and a large parking lot two blocks over on 32nd Street and Barclay Street.

Will there be drinks and food?

Yes! While beer at a brewery is expected (and Peabody is creating a beer for the event as well), there will also be a variety of non-alcoholic drinks offered. Two food trucks will be available outside for food. While outside food is permitted, we encourage you to patronize the local small businesses that operate at Peabody!

Are pets allowed?

Pets are allowed indoors and outside at Peabody, but must be leashed at all times. We do want to make pet owners aware that because of the free play craft area at the event, small items like plastic beads and embellishments may end up on the floor and may pose a hazard to pets (and children as well). By attending, you understand and accept the risks and agree to indemnify and hold harmless Peabody and MAGFest from any and all claims, damages, or liabilities arising out of or in connection with the event.

What kind of lodging is nearby?

You might have noticed that MAGLabs is currently a one day event, and we expect the first event’s attendance to be mostly local. If you did want to make a trip around it, the closest hotels to the venue are Inn at The Colonnade Baltimore - a DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel and The Study at Johns Hopkins.

I have more questions, or would like to get involved with a future event… who should I contact?
